The ExperienceOz team woke up with a rush early on our second day in Sydney; by 9am, we were filled with adrenaline as we shuffled along the platforms that hug the outside of the Sydney Tower—a quarter of a kilometre above the ground!
Standing tall at 250 metres, the Sydney Tower is the highest point in Australia’s largest city. The iconic golden tower offers breathtaking, far-reaching, 360-degree views.
Visitors can see the Harbour Bridge, the Opera House and other city sites, as well as the distant Blue Mountains and golden beaches, from a new perspective.
We enjoyed even more sensational views from the outside of the tower on the Sydney Tower Skywalk.
After a zoomy lift ride, the friendly Sydney Tower crew first fitted us with protective suits and harnesses, gave us a safety briefing and hooked us up to an outdoor track of safety rails.
And up and out we went! As we were all harnessed to the safety rails in a row, there was literally no backing out! So, onward we moved, venturing along the steel walkways that circle the tower.
Our knees became weak as we stepped onto the first glass-floored viewing platform. We were suspended high above the city on this glass balcony, which extends beyond the walkway. Standing at over double the height of the Habour Bridge, we nearly had a bird’s eye view of the tall Sydney icon.
When we later came across a second glass-floored viewing platform, we marched on to it much more confidently… until it started moving! Once we were at the edge, our Skyguide hit the button, sending the platform out a metre further.
Once safely back inside, we all agreed this outdoor adventure was an exhilarating way to start the day in an exciting city!
The paragon of undesrantdnig these issues is right here!
